Therapy sessions are tailored to fit your unique needs. For children, this often involves a brief “check-in” with the parent at the beginning or end of the session, along with opportunities to talk, play, and engage in creative projects as a means for growth and understanding. Adults & teens may choose to use art, other creative interventions as well, or work towards personal growth through talking. Sometimes families meet together to build communication and skills. Parenting is the hardest and most important job you will ever have. Usually, changes on behalf of the parent can be effective in addressing a child's challenges. I offer time for you to reflect on this process, be heard, and explore new approaches. Learn more here.
Sometimes people need brief, direct feedback tailored to their situation, or a place to discuss possibilities. I offer consultation as a way to give more general information, or to help a client who does not need ongoing counseling with a decision or life event. Often this is about specific parenting challenges, or related to adoption questions.
Adoption by definition is a one time process, but it often adds complexities and questions that are unique to those touched by it. Challenges related to adoption can surface throughout one's life. I am available to offer support and guidance through these challenging times. I offer assistance to children, teens, adults, and parents in a safe space to explore what issues may be normal under the circumstances, and what challenges may point to something more complex.
